So last month, a friend ask me if I can compose a graduation song for her daughter.

I “gladly” said yes, and she told me that the song was her daughter’s project given by their teacher. And the best song will be sang on their (of course!) graduation day!

Writing a song is not that easy, but what I loved about writing songs is that when you finished making one it’s big accomplishment. Well, I can’t really describe the feeling. But the feeling is just plain “AWESOME!”.

I asked my friend what was the theme of the song, and this is what she told me.

“Ang mensahe ay: mag-aral ng mabuti para makatapos at matupad ang mga pangarap tulad ng magandang trabaho, makapaglakbay, atbp. tagalog?“

The truth is I was hoping for a much easier approach with the song, that when she asked me to compose a graduation song, the first thing that came to my mind was Vitamin C’s song “Graduation (Friends Forever)”.

On the first week of the project, my friend asked if I can give her the lyrics of the song because the teacher wanted to check her (I’m guessing the teacher was a “she”) student’s work, and since I wasn’t really quite decided with the music of the song, I gave her the rough draft of the lyrics and told her that I was still working on the music.

Good thing the teacher, gave a thumbs up on the lyrics. And so I got working on the music. I took me another week for the music to be completed. I was quite satisfied with the outcome of the song, although I wasn’t prepared for the deadline, and so the recording of the song, wasn’t really that perfect. During the recording, I had problems with my guitar, my recording device, cables, that night was just plain C-R-A-Z-Y!

And so after two weeks I was done with the song! It was an incredible feat for me. Considering that I wasn’t really confident with my song writing.

Last night my friend tweeted me that our song got picked as their “graduation song”, and they already asked her the chords of the song. WOOOOT!!!

I wasn’t really expecting that our song will get picked. My number one goal when I started making the song was just to make a decent song (para maganda naman yung kalabasan nung project). Up until now I still can’t believe it, and I want to ask my friend non stop if it was true.

*hungover*

Hindi din naman ako “in denial” pagdating sa edad ko, sadya lang talaga sigurong hindi ko naiisip kung ilang taon na ko. Alam ko na tumatanda ako, pero yung edad? hmmmm…

Di ba nga sabi nila “Age is just a number”, siguro yan ang sinusunod kong alituntunin sa buhay. Hindi ko masyado iniisip kung ano pa ang hindi ko pa nagagawa, at hindi ko pa napupuntahan.

Ibig sabihin ba nun ay hindi ako “insecure”?

Ang totoo niyan? Hindi ko din alam kung ano isasagot ko dyan. Pero isa lang ang sigurado, Masaya ako ngayon sa kinalalagyan ko, masaya ako sa kung anong meron ako. At pinahahalagahan ko ang mga iyon.

Kaya ngayon sa aking ika-28 na kaarawan, ang tangi ko lamang kahilingan ay “mabuting kalusugan”. Hindi lang para sa ‘kin kundi para sa king mga mahal sa buhay at mga kaibigan.

At sa mga bumati at naka-alala, taos puso akong nagpapasalamat.

No, I am not going to preach about the history of the Philippines. I’m just going to brag a bit

So last March I whined on how this certain “bossing” was delaying the payment. Apparently they had a problem with one of the ADs that was printed on their publication. And payment was delayed from some time, but they eventually given me the whole amount last May 2011. And the “bossing” was so pissed on how I made the work on one issue that he tried to replace me.

So for one issue they tried hiring another layout artist. And so he thought he solved the problem with regards the artist.

But he was wrong.

The layout artist didn’t like how “bossing” manage the layout, and I think he quit even before finishing one issue.

So once again “bossing” had to find another layout artist. It was easy looking for another artist because he found one near their office. Like the first replacement, he wasn’t pleased on how “bossing” was running things, that “bossing” was even pissed with their secretary and said things that was well… wasn’t nice. And like the first artist, the second artist quit, half-way through the issue.

And he found two more, but like the previous two artist they both quit. The good news is that the issue was done after four artists suffered the wrath of “bossing“.

And then an email was sent to me, telling me that the attached file was for the issue they are working on. And man, that email definitely made my day! A song was even playing in my head while I was reading his email Gary Valenciano’s “Babalik ka rin!”. In my head I was laughing the whole day, just because of that email.

I just sent them this morning a copy of the issue for printing. And now I’m working on their next issue. And up to now he is not talking directly to me, he is sending his messages through their secretary. When he wants something to be changed or corrected, he tells the secretary and the secretary relays the message.

Somehow “bossing”  is like bowing in defeat. I’m giving him what he wants in regards with the layout, but right now he is my BITCH. *evil laugh*

I was up until I think 1 am last night, and I started playing chess on my phone. I have recently installed some new java games, so I guess it helps that I have something to do while my mind is wide awake. And while playing on my phone I started thinking how technology evolved in just a blink of an eye.

I remember using that pager back in the 90′s, and my mother used to page me what to make for dinner. Then the rest is history right?

Everything about technology (gadgets, computers, etc.) is awesome, don’t get me wrong it can’t get any better than this. But what I noticed was, we (gadget and technology fans) are being slaves to this new technology.

Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night to one of your friends text, and after reading it you’ll find out that he/she is just looking for someone to talk since he can’t go to sleep. But after a few texts, he/she will just stop texting because he/she fell asleep?

When I was in high school one teacher told us in class that “we shouldn’t be slaves by mobile phones.” (back then texting was the coolest thing) and she told us that she always kept her phone off when she goes to sleep, and that she has her landline phone for important calls. Of course back in high school, we never cared (were young and stupid right?!).

Back in the 90′s when texting was the most popular thing, I used to be that person. Who always was sleepy the next day because I was texting a friend until the wee hours of the morning. Back then it was just texting, now… well.. Now you have, tablets, gaming consoles, MMORPG, etc. all of this are fun and exciting to use or have. But some people now can’t live without using or turning on their gadgets, and being online.

Remember the movie, “The Matrix”? how about the Terminator series? And of course the movie “I, Robot”. They all have the same theme right? I know, that “Gadgets and Robots are both different topics, but still they are made from technological advancement. (Whew! my nose bled from using that word) You can say that I’m paranoid, or cynical I don’t know. Maybe I’m just scared that some of our children won’t be playing in the streets, and they’d be fat like those people on the WALL-E movie (man, I watch too many movies).

But you know what’s the difference between us and those movies? (except that they’re purely fictional) We still have a lot of time to change our way of using these gadgets.

I remember 2 years ago, I stumbled upon this website called 52 nights unplugged (at first I thought it was like a porn site), and it was like a social networking site, that tells users to stay unplugged for 52 nights a year (they were referring to 52 sundays of the year). And you could post there, what you did for that night. It was almost like a self help site for the tech addicts, they will tell you to stop watching TV, using your phone, computer, game consoles, or any other gadgets for that matter. And users will try to help by suggesting doing things like read a book, play a board game with friends or family, or maybe have some tea party with friends. Too bad though that, that site went down last year (I think).

Maybe by the time robots or technology really will enslave us I’ll be long gone. But think about the future of these kids. Technology is an awesome thing, but don’t let it take over you.

Just like in The Matrix, please choose the red pill.

And so I got a text this morning from one of my bosses to go to their office and pick-up half of my paycheck.

I already know what to ask, and what to check before I signed that voucher. But before that here’s what happened so far…

Two weeks ago I received 2,000 Php from the “Finance Manager” telling me that the other half would be given to me once they finish all the expenses from the previous issue. My salary per issue was supposed to be 5,000 Php, so they still owe me 3,000 Php.

So I asked the “Finance Manager” (I think that’s his position) if the money that I was receiving was for my first issue. And he said that it was for the second issue, so I was a bit confused thinking where did my remaining 3k (from the first issue) went?

Well the good news was, they had a copy of the breakdown of expenses. So they showed me what they were suppose to give me.

And this was according to the “Finance Manager”;

My total salary per issue was 5k. Unfortunately, one of the bosses (which was my uncle) bought a bed and bed sheet worth a total of 3,170 Php. They wanted to (according to the “Finance Manager”) deduct the said amount to the President (which was my uncle), but my (once again according to the “Finance Manager”) uncle told them to deduct it to my salary. And so they deducted the 3,170 Php to my salary.

And just like that I felt like I was robbed… I was bit disappointed, because I knew that I worked my ass for that money and they would just deduct it to my salary just like that? Crap…

I still have to tell my uncle how it went down, fortunately for me they gave me a copy of the breakdown of the expenses.

I really need to find a steady job…
