Lake Mungo

I was never really been a fan of horror movies, maybe it’s because of all the clichés that comes along with it. Its like I can almost predict what would happen on the next scene, guess who really killed who, and I can tell if the scene is what I call “the gulat” scene.

I’m not the type of person who easily gets scared after watching a horror flick. I can still pee in the middle of night even if there is no light on, and I can still sleep alone.

Until yesterday…

I found this movie on the net, it is included in the feature films of AFTER DARK Horrorfest last year. After reading the summary, I became curious.

A sixteen-year-old girl drowns while swimming in the local dam. With a verdict of accidental death, her grieving family buries her. A series of clues lead the family to Lake Mungo where her secret past emerges.

So yesterday I watched the movie, and I think.. It was brilliant! The story was awesome! The movie?! F*ckin’ scary! Man! I was happy, I was actually freaked out by that flick! I can’t believe that a movie that simple would really send shivers down my spine. The story even reminded me of Donnie Darko.

I’m not exaggerating or anything like that, but my girlfriend can’t be alone in a room after seeing that flick. Even though the story was fictional it felt like the incident or the story really happened. For me, it made Paranormal Activity look like trash.

On my list, it currently ranks number 1 (for kick ass!) and REC being the number 2.

I definitely recommend this horror flick. But I swear don’t watch it alone…
